Andrew Macalister

Andrew is leading the project to eradicate goats from the Mounga. Along with the team from DOC and other experts he is currently pulling together the plan to remove goats, which when achieved, will mean the mountain will be the first national park in New Zealnd to be completely free of hooved animals.

Andrew is also operations manager with Project Janszoon in the Abel Tasman National Park so introduced pests and weeds are always in his sights.

During his over 20 years working in conservation he has managed New Zealand’s largest pest control programme for the Animal Health Board on the West Coast.  He has also ran multi million dollar wilding pine control programmes in the Marlborough Sounds and the Abel Tasman National Park.

Andrew is also a director of ecological consultancy R&D Environmental.
