Jarvis Edwards (Ngāruahine, Ngāti Ruanui) is the youngest in the Haumanuhia te Hononga Taiao team. He is an Apprentice Field Kaimahi and is enjoying the variety of work he undertakes as well as learning from his team.
Recently returning from Australia after five-years, Jarvis enjoys spending time on his tupuna maunga, learning about different trapping techniques, navigating tracks and is looking forward to increasing his fluency in te reo Māori.
One day Jarvis hopes run his own crew of rangers and teach them all he has learnt through this role. He is currently studying towards his NZ Certificate in Pest Operations Level 3 from Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT). We are excited to see him grow and enhance his confidence in this profession.
Haumanuhia te Hononga Taiao is a partnership programme between Te Korowai o Ngāruahine and the Taranaki Mounga Project.
Jarvis’ role is supported by the Predator Free 2050 Trust Apprentice programme.
