Ngaire is the Director Governance at Te Papa Atawhai, the Department of Conservation and is Department’s Senior Liaison Officer on the Taranaki Mounga Board.
In this role she represents the interests of DOC, signing off on the annual plan and any project strategies and is the key contact person for any management/governance discussions regarding the project.
Over the past six years she has managed governance teams at the Treasury, the Ministry of Transport and now the Department of Conservation. She has gained extensive governance experience as a company director, and as both a Community Board Member and as a long serving Wellington City Councillor. Ngaire has had a strong association with environmental care and predator control, she was a founding trustee of The Porirua Harbour and Catchments Community Trust aiming to improve management of the harbour and its catchment and was involved in her local environmental care group Friends of the Tawa Bush Reserves, promoting the enhancement, conservation and long-term preservation of bush reserves in Tawa, Wellington.
