Darryn Ratana

Darryn is leading the Oranga Mounga Oranga Tangata – Healthy Mountain, Healthy People programme for Taranaki Mounga.

Of Maori descent Darryn has affiliations to several Taranaki iwi and is currently DOC’s Taranaki Conservation Partnerships Manager. He is also the shareholder representative on the Parininihi ki Waitotara Trust.

Darryn has a background in education planning and leadership, with a focus on early childhood education. Prior to working with DOC he was chair of Nga Rauru Kii Tahi and he has held several high-level leadership roles.

Oranga Mounga Oranga Tangata focuses on physical and mental wellbeing and the role nature plays in it. Darryn says the Mounga is a uniting force in Taranaki and the restorative powers of nature in terms of stress and anxiety will be an underlying platform of Oranga Mounga Oranga Tangata.
