Levi Christie
Kaiwhakamōkihi-Taranaki Mounga Project
& Te Korowai o Ngāruahine

Levi Christie is our Kaiwhakamōkihi/Ranger for Haumanuhia te Hononga Taiao. This is a partnership programme between Te Korowai o Ngāruahine and the Taranaki Mounga Project.

Levi has whakapapa to Ngāti Kahungunu and his partner and children are of Ngāruahine decent. Having a connection to their tupuna maunga is important to Levi and his whānau.

He enjoys connecting with people, especially rangatahi and connecting them to the ngāhere. This passion extends outside of his role where he mentors at-risk rangatahi Māori through his involvement with Rongo Taua,

His whānau, wife and children all inspire him. He is also encouraged by those who have previously worked tirelessly in the taiao space. He says it’s their work that drives him to add towards the restoration of this tupuna maunga.

Levi is also currently studying towards his NZ Certificate in Pest Operations Level 3 from Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT).

Levi’s position was established thanks to DOC Jobs for Nature Funding.
